Veterinary Hospital

Over the course of eight weeks, I oversaw the transformation of a former spa in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY into a comprehensive high-quality veterinary practice. Being lovers of the seaside, the owner’s asked that the space have a distinct ‘beach side’ feel. After viewing a copy of Maurice Prendergast’s Handkerchief Point (1896), I was struck by the similarities to Bay Ridge. In particular, the light and seascape views from the neighborhood’s shore are reminiscent of the painting. Additionally, as the painting was created at the end of the 19th century and Bay Ridge developed at the same time, many of the turn of the century details in the painting are featured in the architecture of the area.

All vintage posters were provided by Bertrand Delacroix.
